November 18, 2014 Dream A World Education celebrated its 5 year anniversary as a unique provider of arts education…and our 5th year was truly something to celebrate. In 2008, before incorporating, we piloted “Secrets of the Heart”, our first school, Leo Politi Elementary. That first year we served four kindergarten classes, 100 children. The principal of that school, Brad Rumble, now sits on our advisory board. Each year we have built upon that first school, adding new schools, forging new relationships with donors, foundations, principals, artists and other organizations.
We improved our programming, added professional development and most importantly a parent component, as well as curriculum for 1st grade and found effective ways to learn the efficacy of what we’re doing. The demand for our programming has grown exponentially and we are currently developing programming which not only goes up grade levels, but that brings arts to early childhood education.
We are proud to say that this year we doubled our programming, serving over 700 children and the parents and teachers of those children. We’ve affected entire school cultures everywhere we’ve gone.
We are welcoming four new schools to our Spring 2015 programming. Dahlia Heights Elementary in the LAUSD and Eucalyptus, Zela Davis, and Jefferson Elementary Schools in the Hawthorne School District. This sets us up to more than double our programming once again for 2015.
A huge thank you to our funders Herb Alpert Foundation, Weingart Foundation, Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, L.A Country Arts Commission donors and our volunteers. This May we will celebrate our 5th Year Anniversary with a May event, “Capture The Magic.”
