Los Angeles, California – Through the generosity of Monica Rosenthal and the Rosenthal Family Foundation, Selma Avenue Elementary will benefit from the Secrets of the Heart residency for its kindergarten and 1st grade students in fall of 2013. This is the second time the Rosenthal Fondation as supported this program at Selma. Monica Rosenthal attended the student culmination performance in fall of 2012. Secrets of the Heart is designed to teach our youngest students universal principles, lifeskills and values through arts programming. The six week program which includes a parent workshop, professional teacher training, an opening performance for children, 24 workshops and a culmination for parents and fellow students. Friendship and a smile, kindness, imagination and gratitude are paired with music, dance, theatre arts and visual arts to create an early foundation for children and a joyful atmosphere for learning. Principal Glendy Marin is “thrilled to have this program back at Selma for three years running.” The program is followed by the Passport To The Heart program and runs through to the end of the school year in 2014.
