What are some of Dream A World Education’s volunteer opportunities?
Teacher Professional Development Workshop
You attend Secrets of the Heart introductory workshop for teachers and administrators. Assist Program Manager with organizing activities including sign-in and help interact with teachers, distribute materials and set up the presentations of the day whether it is our Secrets of the Heart presentation, Theatre Arts or our One World Drum Circle for teachers.
You help plan and attend parent orientation. Assist the Program Manager in facilitating the program. Contact parents prior to workshops to verify details and also their attendance. Oversee parent sign-in and collect permission forms. Fluency in Spanish a plus!
Spanish Interpreter for Parent Workshops
Many families are not fluent in English. You can help parents and guardians understand the all the activities their students will be experiencing and how they can participate.
As part of a team, you work with the teaching artist and other volunteers to assist the children with their visual arts projects. Children in Secrets of the Heart learn about hats and headdresses from around the world and then decorate their headdresses with things for which they’re thankful.
You participate in setting up and breaking down the stage set and props and are responsible for setting up the elements of the onstage Friendship Tree. Also, assisting the DAWE team in putting on a great show.
You help set up and break down the auditorium, help children into their costumes, help set up the vision board gallery (vision boards are collages made by students and their families to express their hopes and dreams for the future.) You can dress the live Friendship Tree and the stage with the children’s and parents wishes and let them know you support their dreams.
